A mission in Afghanistan goes badly wrong. The operatives who survive are left carrying the consequences long after the fighting ends.
The Fix follows those former CIA agents into Tehran, where a dangerous new operation offers something they cannot find at home: a chance to repair their reputations, help someone in danger and settle unfinished business.
This is not the unrelated 2024 science-fiction film with the same title. The 2026 The Fix is an espionage action thriller starring Zachary Levi and Liam Neeson.
The mission that brings the team back together
The story revolves around a team of battle-worn former CIA operatives whose last assignment in Afghanistan ended in disaster. Their training remains intact, but their confidence and standing have been damaged.
Zachary Levi plays Tucker, the man leading the team into its next operation. Liam Neeson portrays Larry, Tucker’s mentor and an experienced figure whose knowledge may be the difference between completing the mission and losing more people.
According to the film’s official promotional synopsis, the team enters Tehran to carry out a daring rescue. The operation gives its members an opportunity to earn redemption, but it also places them inside a hostile environment where one mistake could expose everyone.
These are not agents working at the comfortable height of their careers. They are damaged professionals returning to the work that nearly destroyed them.
That difference gives the premise more weight than a routine rescue mission. Tucker must command people who remember what happened in Afghanistan. Larry must guide a leader who can no longer afford another failure. The rest of the team must decide whether loyalty is enough reason to follow either man back into danger.
Tucker and Larry’s relationship
The most important relationship may be the one between Tucker and Larry.
Larry occupies the mentor’s position, but Tucker is now responsible for making decisions in the field. That arrangement naturally creates pressure. Experience belongs to Larry; immediate responsibility belongs to Tucker.
The film can use that difference to explore what happens when an older operative has to step back while a younger leader carries the consequences. Larry may understand the risks better than anyone, but Tucker must decide which risks the team will actually take.
Liam Neeson has spent much of his later career playing men whose composure hides years of violence and regret. Zachary Levi brings a different energy, making Tucker a potentially less predictable leader. Their contrast could give the movie personality beyond its gunfights and pursuit sequences.
More than a financial opportunity
The marketing also presents the Tehran operation as a life-changing opportunity for the former agents. Money matters, particularly to people whose careers have collapsed, but the emotional stakes are larger.
Each operative must determine what “fixing” the past actually means.
Completing another mission cannot undo Afghanistan. A successful rescue cannot erase every previous mistake. What it can do is reveal whether the team still trusts one another when the operation stops following its plan.
That is where the thriller’s strongest tension should come from. Weapons and tactical experience can help the characters enter Tehran, but they cannot resolve the suspicion and guilt travelling with them.
Who stars in The Fix?
Zachary Levi leads the film as Tucker, while Liam Neeson plays his mentor, Larry. The cast also includes Quincy Isaiah and Elnaaz Norouzi.
Guy Moshe directs the film. His story places trained operatives inside a mission shaped by damaged loyalty, political danger and the need for redemption.
The official trailer emphasizes infiltration, armed confrontation and the difficulty of leaving Tehran once the operation begins. It also suggests an ensemble thriller rather than a story in which one invincible hero completes the job alone.
What kind of movie should viewers expect?
The Fix is an R-rated action thriller aimed at viewers who enjoy:
