Niki White has an ear for things other people miss. That should be the foundation of a musical career. In Tuner, it also makes him useful to people who would rather open a safe than listen to a piano.
Leo Woodall plays Niki, a gifted musician whose sensitivity to loud sound complicates his relationship with music. Working with experienced piano tuner Harry Horowitz, played by Dustin Hoffman, gives him a way to put his abilities to use. Their work demands patience, concentration and close attention to tiny differences in sound.
Then Niki discovers that his skills have another application: cracking safes. The discovery introduces him to a criminal world with very different expectations of what his talent is worth.
The pressure becomes personal when Harry needs expensive medical treatment. Suddenly, the possibility of earning money illegally comes with a persuasive justification. Helping someone who matters to him makes a dangerous decision easier to defend, at least to himself.
There is a troubling imbalance in that bargain. Niki can offer a valuable skill, but being useful to criminals does not mean he controls the terms. The thing that gives him access also makes him vulnerable.
His connection with Ruthie, a composition student played by Havana Rose Liu, introduces another possibility: a relationship rooted in the music that first shaped his life. Around Harry and Ruthie, Niki has reasons to imagine a future beyond the next job. His growing involvement in crime puts that future under pressure.
Niki has an understandable reason to take the risk, which makes it harder to dismiss his choice as simple greed. The suspense begins with what he can unlock. The emotional question is what he might lose by doing it.
Tuner is directed by Daniel Roher, who co-wrote the screenplay with Robert Ramsey. Its U.S. Paramount+ streaming debut is listed for September 21, 2026; that date does not establish Nigerian availability.
