East West Love Story: A Betrayal Turns a Romantic Holiday into a Girls’ Getaway

Spoiler note: This article explains the film’s opening premise and character relationships without revealing its ending.

Tito has a holiday planned with the man she loves. Then she discovers he has been cheating, and the trip suddenly means something very different.

Played by Sunshine Rosman, Tito is the woman at the centre of East West Love, a romance directed by Seko Shamte. Instead of cancelling her plans, she travels with her best friend, played by Elma Mbadiwe. Efa Iwara plays the boyfriend whose infidelity changes the course of the holiday.

The destination is Mombasa, Kenya. Tito, a Nigerian event planner, takes a trip originally associated with her relationship and turns it into a girls’ getaway. There she meets Juma, played by Brian Abajah, whose spontaneous nature challenges her ideas about love and control.

That meeting gives the story its romantic possibility. The emotional difficulty lies in the timing. A new person can be interesting, charming and entirely different from an unfaithful partner, but trusting them still requires someone who has been hurt to take another risk.

Tito’s friendship also matters to the setup. Her first response to the betrayal includes travelling with someone she already knows. Before a new romance enters the picture, there is a familiar person beside her. It gives the holiday a purpose beyond finding a replacement boyfriend.

The festival’s description places healing and friendship alongside unexpected love. That framing allows the story to begin with Tito’s disrupted life, rather than making the new romantic interest the only reason her journey matters.

Mombasa provides a change of surroundings, while the Nigerian and Kenyan characters give the romance a connection across two African countries. The project brings together a Kenyan-Nigerian cast under Tanzanian filmmaker Seko Shamte, with the story set between Lagos and Mombasa.

For Flicklevel, the appeal of this setup is the tension between a holiday’s freedom and the caution that follows betrayal. Meeting someone is the easy part of a romance like this; deciding what to believe about them gives the relationship its stakes.

Viewers drawn to romantic stories about friendship, disappointment and starting again have a clear entry point here. The attraction is the possibility that Tito’s ruined plan might still lead somewhere meaningful, even though she no longer has the journey she originally imagined.

East West Love opened in Nigerian cinemas on 9 October 2026. Filmworld’s Lagos listings include screenings on 14 and 15 October; readers should check their local cinema for current times. A streaming release has not been verified for this guide.
