Xbox is testing a way to buy cloud-gaming hours without subscribing to Game Pass. The Cloud Playtime preview opened on 21 October to eligible Xbox Insiders who do not have an active Game Pass subscription. A broader release is planned for November 2026.
The introductory prices published by Xbox are:
| Cloud playtime | Price in US dollars |
|---|---|
| 10 hours | $3.99 |
| 25 hours | $7.99 |
| 50 hours | $11.99 |
Purchased time provides ad-free streaming and remains available until used. However, a playtime pack does not include a library of paid games. Players need an eligible game purchase or access to a supported free-to-play title, along with a supported device.
For an occasional player, the practical question becomes how many hours they expect to stream and whether the game they want is eligible. Buying streaming time may suit someone who already owns a supported title and only needs cloud access occasionally.
Game Pass subscribers also have a separate change to consider. Xbox has announced the following monthly cloud allowances beginning in November:
| Subscription | Announced monthly cloud hours |
|---|---|
| Game Pass Ultimate | 15 |
| Game Pass Premium | 10 |
| Game Pass Essential | 5 |
Subscribers will be able to purchase additional cloud time after using their included hours. As of 25 October, these November limits are still upcoming. Players who depend heavily on streaming should factor the announced allowances into their future costs.
For readers in Nigeria, these dollar prices do not confirm local pricing or access. Eligibility varies by market, device, account and preview ring. A fast connection alone cannot establish eligibility; check your account’s available options before paying.
